S.B. – October 2020

“In early October we camped on Round Schooner lake at site #11. It’s a spacious site with several choice spots to pitch tents, and a large expanse of smooth outcrops to sit on and take in magnificent views of the lake. After an early dinner we watched a beautiful sunset, and as the stars grew bright, we listened with delight to barred owls calling “who cooks for you? who cooks for you?”.

Next morning we explored a well-worn trail behind the site which heads east, rising to a height of land that offers excellent views of the lakes. Later, back on the water, we battled ferocious winds from the south to make our way to the mouth of Mackie Creek where we entered calmer waters. In my long memory of Round Schooner, it has never been easier to navigate all the way to the dam and on to Centennial Lake!

Despite the strong winds and intermittent rainfall we had a glorious time, we’re already making plans for the next trip.”
